Region II Vice President's Report - June 2008

Greetings to Region II in the new Chapter year 2008-2009. Congratulations to the new Chapter Officers.

We are sending this Region II Newsletter to specific people in each Chapter with the hopes that the Chapters will send it to their entire Chapter mailing list. Ernie Harper will publish this Newsletter quarterly. Thanks Ernie.

The Regional Operating Com-mittee (ROC) Newsletter should be the primary way that we provide important informa-tion and local news to each of the 2000 people in Region II. The ROC also suggested that I have additional regular email communications with the Chapter Presidents for infor-mation that is important for operating the Chapters but not necessarily important for each Chapter member.

With that in mind, here are the items of impor-tance to our general membership.

The Officer Central portion of the Society website can now be accessed by any ASSE member. Check out the types of infor-mation now available to you!.

Region II now includes the Middle East Chapter. The Mid-dle East Chapter includes members from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, and Yemen.

Region II has the following three funded scholarships avail-able:

Region II has an additional scholar-ship that has a balance of approxi-mately $15,000. In order to be funded $23,000 is required. I will personally continue to add to this scholarship in the future. Region II would also welcome your donation.

In January 2009 the Practice Spe-cialty (CoPS) newsletters will all be issued electronically.

The PDC in Las Vegas set several records including a record atten-dance of more than 4200 people.

Future PDCs:: 2009 (San Antonio), 2010 (Baltimore), 2011 (Chicago), 2012 (Denver).

Region II has filed the paper-work for incorporation.
